Former Allianz Veteran Hartmut Mai Joins Cyberwrite

Cyberwrite today announced the appointment of Hartmut Mai as a senior advisor and strategic partner, bringing more than 25 years of global insurance leadership experience to the company. Mai previously served as the Global Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at Allianz, one of the world's largest insurance groups.

Background

During his tenure at Allianz, Mai spearheaded the launch of Allianz's cyber insurance policy in Germany — one of the earliest and most significant cyber insurance products to come to market in Europe. He subsequently held senior leadership roles across multiple Allianz divisions, accumulating deep expertise in underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and emerging risk assessment at global scale.

Mai brings with him a rare combination of technical insurance knowledge and executive leadership experience that spans property, casualty, and specialty lines — with a particular focus on the intersection of technology risk and insurance. His perspective on the structural challenges of cyber underwriting — including the critical need for company-level data to price and manage cyber exposure accurately — directly informed Cyberwrite's product roadmap.
